About Castlebay

Castlebay, named after the medieval fortress of Kisimul Castle, is the main settlement on the Isle of Barra and it is located on the southern side of the island. Castlebay Ferry Port offers regular ferry sailings to Oban on mainland Scotland. Castlebay village has various B&Bs, guest houses, restaurants, cafés, shops, a petrol station, bank and hospital.

During the summer, the terminal is open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 17:00, Saturday from 07:00 to 15:00 and Sunday from 07:00 to 13:00.
